Pros and cons of FSXFollow app for iPhone and iPad

FSXFollow app good for

Tool itself is Ok, map is Useable. some thing i would wish for an update: better useability for the screenshot mode. and a important thing: for the map: maybe a tool that import the flightplan,so that we can not only see where we are but also maybe distance to destination and the route picked for the flightplan. Blue skies David
I have a big problem!!! How does it works? How can I connect it to my pc? Whats my name in the extras on the pc? Please give me advice! Fast! Because when it works I think it is veeeeery cool! So please give me advice!!! Thx
Would be nice, if you can add an option to organize the airports from closest to most far!
Imagine this, youre in the middle of a long flight in FS2004 or FSX, happily watching your progress as the autopilot maintains your course... Suddenly, reality interrupts, your wife/girlfriend/significant other wants you to go shopping with her!!!! Being the loving flightsimmer that you are, you leave the 737 making its way across the sky, and jump into the car to make your way across town. Bonus, she thinks youre great!.. Aha, but you have a secret weapon... "FSXFollow." You get to the mall and excuse yourself, you suddenly have a strong need for coffee (while she looks in the stores.) You rush to the wifi hotspot (better if you have an iphone with data plan) and start up the program on your iPod Touch or iPhone. You look for the name you already assigned to your flight when you logged onto the website back home, and there you are... Quicker than the server can take your order, youre following the progress of your flight superimposed on Google maps. FSX users can even request a screenshot, so if you left the cockpit in VC mode, thats what youll see on your mobile device, a regularly-updating screenshot of whats happening on your monitor back home in FSX. Yes, you are a great partner, leaving your flightsim to go to the mall... But the flightsimmer went with you... Thanks to FSXFollow. So plus points... 1) Inexpensive. 2) Able to use even when you are not at home. 3) Just "plane" fun! 4) Awesome customer support.. I had a problem early Sunday morning, and had received an answer plus revised exe file within an hour! 5) Designer willing to look at ideas to improve the product. Minus points? 1) Just a little limited so far, but lots of room to grow. 2) In FSX I found that when requesting screenshots it slowed down my sim, but that may be my old computer or even internet connection here in the prairies of Canada. 3) No aviation charts yet, but the developer says hes looking into that, and thats fine by me because it shows his willingness to listen to customers and respond willingly to new ideas. All-in-all, after testing in both FS2004 and FSX, I like this. If I still had my home cockpit, (Im going to re-design it!) Id have an opening in the panel to slot my iPod behind, thus adding a small moving map very very cheaply to my setup.... Four stars for now, with the expectation of it becoming five as this program grows. (Ps.. I am not affiliated with the company that designed it)
I must admit that right after I started using this for the first time, that I was not impressed. However once I dug in a bit deeper to understand it, I was sold. Its now an integral part of my FSX set up. I have a 4 monitor set up with 1 for charts, and the others for display. I also have 15 Saitek components and this now sits by my monitors so I can watch my flight progress. Where I think this is the coolest, is when you are on the ground ay an airport. I zoom in, and clearly shows my position on the runway or the gate. Its cool to watch the progression as I taxi around the airport. There are a couple of things that I would like to see changed though. The display is locked in the portrait position. I do get why, but it would be nice to have the option for wide screen. If there is a way to adjust that, I have not discovered it yet. Also it would be nice to have some options around the plane icon. Shape, color, size etc. Other than those two small issues, its now a must have for me, and I would recommend this as a great add on for any FSX simmer.
I love this app! I most of my simulator flying in Northern B.C., bush flying and this app is ideal as it gives me a moving map as close as I need. It basically replaces the GPS. Great for long distance autopilot flights too.

Some bad moments

It does nothing.. I am very angry that i wasted 3.99 on this app..i fly fsx and this app doesnt connect with the game..when I try to send a complaint i get a notice say " cant connect "
If you could rate it with no stars I would.. Thats what it deserves!!! Doesnt work!! When you go to tech support on their website it is non-existent and they dont reply to emails!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
はあ? waiting for screenshot だけ… なんなのこれは?????
Tried opening this app and it doesnt even work. Last time I buy something that hasnt been reviewed!
Ive wasted my money and Ive been messing with this app and FSX Control for hours, and exchanging numerous e-mails with the programmer (?), without any success. Ive never had any problems loading, or using, any apps, and my iPhone 4, 32GB has a few. But these two apps, are an absolute waste of money and my time. Note: I had to give this at least one (1) star in order to write a review.
Cant get it to work and the help website doesnt exist ( anymore ?). I wish I had my $5 back.
